For the first time since the 1940s, Kriesberg's lithograph, Danza de las potencias (Dance of the powers), will be on view in Mexico City as part of an exhibition titled Imagografías de diversidad: el entre-medio de la cultura at the Museo Mural Diego Rivera (August 9, 2021 thru January 2022).
Irving was in Mexico from 1941 to 1944 and made several socially engaged themed prints with many of the subjects referencing World War Two and the defeat of Fascist oppressors. He exhibited his art with Taller de Gráfica Popular (aka "People's Graphic Workshop"), a renowned artist's print collective founded in Mexico City in 1937.
Through this exhibition, Irving Kriesberg is contextually connected to Taller de Gráfica Popular and all of the great socially engaged artists who he had the opportunity to learn from and work with while he was in Mexico City.
If you are in or around Mexico City, please be sure to visit the exhibition at the Museo Mural Diego Rivera (view location on Google Maps).
